Everyone was super excited about the Marvel movies back in 2019 (which seems like a lifetime ago now).
One of the characters who got a lot of attention was Black Widow.
The thing is, she’s a woman with no super-powers.
Which is why the real-life inspiration behind her choice of weapons is interesting…
As a small woman (and a beautiful one) fighting much larger enemies (and sometimes monsters), Black Widow wouldn’t be very believable in real-life.
That’s why the people behind the Marvel Movies gave her a weapon (which comes from the comics, as far as I know) that makes perfect sense in the real world.
It’s her shocking wrist bands, which are basically just “stun guns on steroids.”
She uses them to ZAP! anyone who gets too close, especially when she’s locked in hand-to-hand combat.
A stun gun makes perfect sense for anyone whose enemy is bigger and stronger, because of the way the tool works.
It’s basically an electrical transformer that takes a power source (as small as a 9 volt battery in some cases) and puts out thousands of volts at low amperage.
It isn’t fatal, but it causes your muscles to contract, and it’s super painful.
One of these can drop a guy if he’s not looking for it (and he may even, well, wet himself).
You can see why movie producers looking to make something a little more realistic might go with this weapon…
…and of course, it makes sense that ANYONE, man or woman, looking for an edge against larger attackers would pick one up too.
Just a thought, you know?
Be safe out there (and watch out for monsters).
