Arrested for having WATER?

Over the last year we've watched our government officials kind of go crazy with power.

Over the last year we’ve watched our government officials kind of go crazy with power.

But this was happening well before the pandemic.
And there’s one news story that I’ve been wanting to talk about for a while, because it teaches us 3 important lessons about survival.

I want to tell you about the man who was…

ARRESTED for COLLECTING WATER?

A couple of years ago, a man named Gary Harrington was sentenced to 30 days in jail for collecting rainwater in reservoirs on his own property.

He was convicted under a law in Oregon that goes all the way back to 1925.

He even had permits for the reservoirs… but the state revoked them so it could put him in jail!
See, Gary knew that rainwater has a number of important survival uses, from drinking, cooking, and laundry, to irrigation, composting, and even for livestock.

And if the government BEFORE the pandemic would revoke his permits to stop him from prepping by storing rainwater… well, nothing illustrates better three important survival/prepping principles:

1. You’ve GOT To Have A Survival Water Supply

Gary Harrington knew it, and I’m betting you already did, too.

Water is something you need a LOT of, and just tucking some bottles of water away aren’t going to do it.

You need a plan for backup water to serve you and your family.

(The good news is, there are lots of plans like that online.)

2. You’ve GOT To Stockpile Food

Hand in hand with what we’ve learned through the pandemic is that at any time, the store shelves could be empty from panic buying.

Your own government could force you to stay home, too.

So you’ve got to have a plan for stockpiling food.

That way, you and your family won’t go hungry during the “lean times.”
3. You’ve GOT To Have Backup Power

Finally, as those who experienced rolling blackouts in California this summer found out, our power grid is weak.

Whenever it gets strained, it FAILS.

Unless you want your family left in the dark during an outage, you should have some plans for backup power sources, too.

I know all this seems like a lot, but it really isn’t hard to cover these things.
Depending on how you go about it, getting all this information could be difficult and time consuming… but it doesn’t have to be!

(There are a few programs out there that collect all the information in one convenient place, and the good news is that they’re very affordable.)

But no matter how you gather the information you need — after all, you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t interested in survival, prepping, and protecting yourself and your family — the story of Gary Harrington definitely proves that we need it.

The time to get prepared is now…
And it always has been!
Be safe out there.

Are “ninja knives” the best blades?

Recently the “knife world” got word that knife company Cold Steel was being sold to another company. That got me to thinking about the knives that put Cold Steel on the map – tanto blades. These Japanese-inspired blades, sometimes referred to as “ninja knives” because of the style, are STILL super popular.

Instagram “knife cults” – what I learned

They love fixed blades and fast-opening folders.
And as long as you have a good, simple, powerful fixed blade like this one, well… you’re better armed than most of the population (and you can even take someone with a gun at extreme close quarters).
